A message from our preacher, Johnny Felker
"Greetings!
Thanks for taking the time to explore our web site. I hope that you will find
many helpful resources here, and that you will return often to explore new
additions to the site.
I am a
native of Columbia, Tennessee. Now at age 68, I have been preaching the gospel
full-time for over 46 years. After receiving a B.A. degree in Music
Education in 1975, I decided to devote my life to preaching, working with
congregations in Rutherford County (TN), Beckley & Charleston (WV), Lawrenceburg
(TN) and Killen (AL) before moving to work with the church at Perry Heights
(Nashville, TN) for the past twenty-three
years. While working with the church here I completed my
Masters in Theological Studies at Lipscomb University.
God has blessed me with a wonderful family. Martha, my wife of 47 years, is a behavior analyst assisting adults and
children with behavior issues. She
is my partner in the Lord’s work in teaching and encouraging others. My four
children, Joel (and his wife Shannon), David (and his wife Emily), Evelyn (and
her husband Brian), and Laura are also disciples of Jesus Christ. As a father, I want them to know of my
love for them and my joy in their many accomplishments; but above all things I want
them to love and serve God. Martha and I now also have the great
blessing of having ten wonderful grandchildren, Preston, Hannah, Alexis,
Andrew, Lola, Elizabeth, Joshua, James, Rose, and Ruby!
As an
evangelist, my goal is to know and apply God’s will for myself so that I will
be an example to others of what I teach. I am eager to share what I have
learned and experienced with others, believing that they will also enjoy the
blessings of God as I have in my life. Each Sunday as I preach, I want to help
others to know God as He has revealed Himself. As we do, we will love Him and
want to obey Him because we know that His wisdom and power are great! The
result will be a life of joy and peace through our fellowship with Him and His
Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. To that task I commit myself each day
as I labor in the gospel. I hope very much that you will allow me the privilege
of helping you in your search for God’s will for your life. I invite you to
visit with us at Perry Heights for one of our Bible classes or worship
assemblies."
